Manchester Central has announced the appointment of Chris Woodroofe as its new chair, strengthening the venue’s strategic leadership as it continues to play a pivotal role in driving regional growth.
As managing director of Manchester Airport, Chris is responsible for leading the UK’s third-largest airport and has overseen its continued post-pandemic recovery, operational performance and future-focused growth plans.
As chair of Manchester Central, Woodroofe will support the venue’s leadership team in steering its future direction, with a particular focus on long-term, sustainable performance that contributes directly to Manchester’s strategic ambitions.
Woodroofe said: “At Manchester Airport we often say we are proud to connect the North to the world. That obviously means connecting the people of the region to the places they want to travel to but it also means connecting people from all corners of the world to all the opportunities Manchester City Region offers.”
Lori Hoinkes, CEO at Manchester Central, added: “Manchester Central is a key asset for the region and its impact extends well beyond events; supporting jobs, fostering innovation and new business opportunities. Chris’s appointment further strengthens our commitment to effective governance and future-focused leadership.”
Manchester Central welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and contributes approximately £130m annually to the regional economy.
