Vikings: The Immersive Experience will open at Dock X in Canada Water this March, offering a historical and educational exhibition focused on the Viking era.
The experience centres on King Ragnar Lodbrok, Queen Kraka (Aslaug), and their sons, using video mapping, virtual reality, and physical sets to tell their story. The venue features a full-size forest installation, a replica of the mythological Yggdrasil tree, a 360-degree video presentation with a Viking longship centrepiece, and VR experiences for adults and children.
Unlike many Viking narratives that focus on Ragnar’s raids, this exhibition highlights Queen Kraka’s role as a seeress and strategic adviser. “Kraka was the bedrock of this dynasty,” said Mitch Sebastian, creative director for the experience. The experience begins with visitors transported to 793AD, the year of the Lindisfarne monastery raid.
They then move through the Forest of Time, which includes Viking replica displays, interactive touchscreens showing conquest histories, and an audio-guided tour. A fog-filled portal room leads to the main 30-minute cinematic presentation featuring the longship. The exhibition targets history enthusiasts, school groups, families, and fans of the Netflix Vikings series. A junior VR option is available for younger visitors.
