Rhubarb Hospitality Collection has been appointed to manage Cleaver & Wake, Binks Yard and their associated venues at Nottingham’s Island Quarter development.

The operator, whose portfolio includes the Royal Albert Hall and London’s Sky Garden, will take over the sites from developer Conygar. The vast majority of staff have transferred to Rhubarb, though some consultants previously working on the project are no longer involved.

The venues launched in 2022 and have built a calendar of events, weddings and corporate bookings. Conygar said the appointment would help elevate the offering.

The Island Quarter is a £1.2bn mixed-use regeneration scheme on a 36-acre site, formerly home to the Boots pharmaceutical factory. The project includes apartments, a hotel, office space, retail and leisure facilities, and a central park.

Christopher Ware, managing director at Conygar, said: “Since launching Binks Yard and Cleaver & Wake in 2022, we have been welcomed to the Nottingham hospitality scene with an incredible reception, which has allowed us to continue to grow and develop. We now have a packed events calendar on the Binks Terrace and are a staple for corporate occasions and weddings at Upstairs at Cleaver & Wake. It’s a natural progression for us to elevate our offering by appointing an operator and RHC’s experience is unparalleled.”

P.B. Jacobse, chief executive officer at RHC, said: “We are looking forward to evolving and developing the hospitality offering at Island Quarter, reaffirming it as Nottingham’s premier destination for dining, entertainment and events. We’re delighted to be working with Conygar and the existing team and look forward to announcing some new projects for Island Quarter.”
