Event technology platform Grip has launched a new tool that connects AI applications directly to live event data. The company states that this tool is saving organisers an estimated 10 hours per event on configuration tasks.
The Grip MCP – built on the Model Context Protocol, which allows AI applications to connect to external data sources in real time – lets organisers make queries about their event setup (in plain English) through tools like Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot. Rather than switching between platforms, an organiser can ask questions directly, such as whether welcome emails are configured, which integrations are active, or whether a particular feature is enabled.
At launch, the tool is read-only and mirrors each organiser’s existing Grip permissions, meaning no one can access or change data they wouldn’t already have rights to within the platform.
The foundation for a bigger AI project
Beyond configuration checks, Grip says the MCP is the foundation of a broader agentic layer it is building for organisers. Planned capabilities include an automated event setup agent that reviews your current configuration and produces a setup plan with an order of priorities, a launch readiness score against a full checklist, auto-generated guides for internal teams, exhibitors and attendees, and post-event summaries.
“Organisers want their existing AI tools to integrate with their events. The Grip MCP gives organisers’ AI software, like Claude, full, structured context on their event,” says Tim Groot, CEO and co-founder of Grip.
“Ten hours back per event changes how teams run events, and that’s just the start of what our MCP will do,” he continues.
