EVM, the Glasgow signage and interior fit-out manufacturer behind branding work for COP26 and the UCI World Cycling Championships, expects to more than double its turnover from £3m in 2023 to over £6m by March 2027, backed by a £1.5m expansion.

The family firm, founded in 1991 and now run by its second generation, has bought the premises next door to its Thornliebank Industrial Estate headquarters, lifting its capacity by 40% to a total of 30,000 sq ft for production, logistics, storage and its growing workforce, which will rise from 36 to 47. The move is backed by a £300,000 commercial mortgage from Bank of Scotland, a lender EVM has worked with for more than 15 years.

EVM’s recent events work includes branding and wayfinding for COP26, the World Gymnastics Championships, the UCI World Cycling Championships and numerous shows at Glasgow’s SEC Campus. Its history also includes signage for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. During the pandemic, it produced PPE and helped fit out Glasgow’s temporary NHS Louisa Jordan hospital.

Paul Fennon, managing director, said: “We started out as a signage business in Glasgow more than 30 years ago,” with continuous investment in people, skills and manufacturing equipment accelerating the firm’s growth.

He added that several long-serving staff have had family members join the business as apprentices, saying: “Having more space means we can continue to grow by bringing more skilled people into the business, creating exciting career opportunities.”
