The Power of Events has expanded its Schools Engagement Programme into Leeds.
The move extends the initiative into Yorkshire, with Leeds becoming the latest regional hub.
Launched in 2023, The Power of Events is a not-for-profit organisation. It focuses on improving understanding of careers across the UK events industry.
The Schools Engagement Programme connects event professionals with secondary school students, offering sessions that explain how the industry works and what career routes look like.
In the 2024–25 academic year, the programme reached more than 106,000 young people, delivered through 350 school visits. Activity took place across the East of England, Birmingham, the South Coast, and Hertfordshire.
A year-one report has now been published.
Industry professionals can register as ambassadors
Industry professionals can now register as volunteer ambassadors – participation can involve as little as one hour.
Leeds school engagements to begin in spring 2026
The first Leeds school engagements will begin in spring 2026. The programme aims to reach more than 10,000 young people in the region during its first year, supported by local sponsors and a network of volunteers.
The Leeds expansion is backed by event industry organisations, including Leeds Hotels and Venues Association, PLASA, Reset Connect, Royal Armouries, Sparq Live, Sterling Event Group, TAIT, The Meetings Show, and XSEM.
Duncan Reid, Reset Connect, said: “We are hugely excited to be supporting The Power of Events as it launches into the North East. Our award-winning events company is also launching its … event format in Leeds in 2026 with the support of Mayor Tracy Brabin.
He continued: “Reset Connect North will make its debut on 3–4 March 2026 at the Royal Armouries.”
Rick Stainton, chief executive at The Power of Events, said: “The launch of the Leeds Hub marks a significant progression into the North East for one of our core projects.”
Further launches planned
The organisation has also announced further regional launches, with Manchester, Liverpool and Cheshire, Edinburgh, London, and Bath and Bristol all coming online in autumn 2025.
A launch reception for the Leeds region is planned for early 2026 to introduce the programme to local industry professionals and potential ambassadors.
