Sustainable event practices to implement before the busy Autumn season

SHARE

As the events calendar begins to fill up for the Autumn, now is the perfect time to reassess your sustainability strategy. Here are five impactful practices to implement before the season gets into full swing:

Go paperless with digital tools

Ditch printed programs, tickets and handouts in favor of mobile apps, QR codes, and digital signage. Not only does this reduce waste, but it also improves real-time communication with attendees.

Source locally and seasonally

Cater with locally grown, seasonal ingredients and partner with vendors from your region. This cuts down on transportation emissions and supports small businesses in your area.

Eliminate single-use plastics

Replace plastic water bottles and cutlery with compostable or reusable alternatives. Encourage attendees to bring their own bottles by offering plenty of refilling stations around your venue.

Choose green venues

Prioritise venues that are certified green or have clear environmental policies – think energy-efficient buildings, recycling programs, sustainable transport access and sustainable food policies.

Plan for waste management

Work with vendors and venues to sort and divert waste from landfills. Clear signage and composting/recycling bins can significantly improve attendee participation and reduce your event’s footprint.
