The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has launched a new campaign, SEC & Me, to mark its 40th anniversary.

The initiative will invite audiences to share their experiences of the venue through stories, photographs and videos.

The SEC opened in September 1985 as Scotland’s first purpose-built conference and exhibition centre. It has since staged political, cultural and sporting events including COP26, the MTV Europe Music Awards and the Commonwealth Games. Concerts by artists such as UB40, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have also been held on the site.

Over the past four decades, the campus has expanded to include the SEC Armadillo, opened in 1997, and the OVO Hydro, opened in 2013. The venues continue to operate as part of the city’s events infrastructure and economy.

Submissions to SEC & Me will form a digital archive and be used in a short film to be released later this year. Contributions will also be shared across SEC’s digital channels, with participants entered into a prize draw to win two tickets to an event at the venue.

The anniversary programme, branded SEC40, will also include details of planned improvements to the campus aimed at supporting future events.

Dominic McKay, chief executive of the SEC, said: “All of the incredible moments we’ve hosted over the past 40 years are made unforgettable by the people who experienced them. SEC & Me is our way of celebrating those stories, while also looking to the future. The SEC has always been about more than stages and spaces – it’s about connection, creativity, and community. As we move forward, we are committed to evolving our campus, driving cultural and economic impact, and continuing to inspire generations to come.”
