OLIO appoints sales director
OLIO, the food sharing app, has announced the appointment of Martin Rohleder as its new sales director.
The OLIO programme supports 270 UK businesses and encourages them to share 70,000 meals per month. Through its ‘Food Waste Heroes’ programme, surplus food is collected and redistributed within local communities.
Rohleder has over 20 years’ experience in the food and beverage industries. He joins OLIO from Staples Solutions where he worked as group category director. He has also worked as a commercial director at Oerlemans Food.
As sales director, Rohleder’s role will require him to recruit more businesses to join the OLIO food programme.
Tessa Clarke, co-founder, OLIO, said: “We are at a crucial point where the world is finally waking up to the sustainability crisis. OLIO as a platform has garnered huge support from both consumers and the business community as a result.”
Clarke states that Rohleder’s international commercial experience of building sustainable partnerships will “help OLIO grow the number of businesses joining the OLIO programme.”
Rohleder added: “Companies like OLIO are at the forefront of the worldwide drive to improve the sustainability of industries. In the hierarchy of food waste reduction initiatives, OLIO plays a unique and critical role in the recovery and redistribution of surplus food waste, that is still fit for consumption, to local communities.
“It’s a fantastic time to be joining the business as it continues to lead in reducing the impact of food waste around the world and ultimately achieving the goal of zero waste to landfill.”
