Mia launches new series of events

The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has announced that it will be releasing a series of events to aid the development of business meetings and events professionals and support the recovery of the sector.

The series is designed to drive best practice, the upcoming May events have been developed with the aim of helping mitigate the damage inflicted by Covid-19.  

Commencing 4 May, sales and marketing specialists Lee Ali and Stephan Murtagh will deliver a workshop on 'Optimising your venue sales after lockdown', supporting the development of sales strategies to drive new business. The workshop will aim to showcase how venues can stand out from the competition, the session will explore sales agility, adaptation and how many venues may need to compensate for lost time.

For destination and convention bureaus, the mia will be hosting a 'Destination response and recovery' webinar on 13 May, with an interactive session exploring how destinations can support conference organisers and look ahead to determine how they can meet client expectations. 

Supporting personal and professional development, communication expert Richard Newman will host a 'Mindset: Presence under pressure' workshop on 20 May, which will explore how professionals can perform at their best during stressful times.

Following the mia’s 31st Annual General Meeting, which is set to take place at 1 Wimpole Street on 24 May, the month of events will be brought to a close with the latest in its Connect event series. Taking place on 26 May, 'Connect Virtual: Bringing agents and venues together' will immerse venues and agents in an series of discussions, networking opportunities and more to explore the industry’s latest trends and challenges while facilitating new industry connections.
