Meet in Kingston confirmed at International Confex

Meet in Kingston, a consortium of venues located in Kingston-upon-Thames, London, has confirmed its presence at International Confex, which takes place at ExCeL London, 25-26 February 2020.

Kingston is one of the capital’s newest up-and-coming destinations, with a variety of venues covering different needs and styles.

DoubleTree Hilton Kingston (pictured below), which opened in December 2016, sits alongside Canbury Gardens and the River Thames, and is the area’s newest venue. With Kingston being the town where the Sopwith Camel and Hawker Hurricane aircrafts were built in the early 20th Century, the hotel takes its design inspiration from this aeronautical history. It is a 3-minute walk from Kingston station, itself just 35 minutes from London Waterloo. Boat rides to Richmond or Hampton Court Palace can also be arranged.

The Rose Theatre, part of the Charter Quay development, is a popular destination for performances all year round and available for hire. With an auditorium that seats 900, it is one of the largest capacity venues in South London.

Kingston University has a plethora of event spaces for hire, and as an academic venue, offers certain specialist facilities to organisers. Those interested in hiring spaces related to science and technology, sports science, art and design, media and creative or music would be well advised to contact the university’s events team. The university’s Dorich House Museum is located on the edge of Richmond Park. The architecturally striking venue can accommodate up to 50 delegates in its main studio in theatre style and offers its grounds and roof terrace for hire.

Hampton Court Palace (main picture) is one of the UK’s leading tourist attractions and has made huge strides in the corporate market over the last decade. The Great Hall, where King Henry would famously dine, can hold up to 270 delegates for dinner and up to 400 for a reception.

Multiple other spaces exist, both outdoors and indoors, and delegates can enjoy a raft of other activities such as the famous maze, ice-skating in winter, or the popular ghost tours.

Be sure to read the December issue of Conference News for a full feature on the destination.
