ICCA president confirmed for Event Careers Live

James Rees, president of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and executive director at ExCeL London has been confirmed as a panellist at Events Careers Live, which now takes place on 24 January 2020.

Detail of Rees' session will be announced in October.

The event, which will run at Camm & Hooper’s Banking Hall in the City of London, aims to bring together prospective candidates, events industry experts, and employers.

Other speakers include Rachel Kerr, senior marketing manager at HSBC, who will explain how a FTSE corporate marketing team is structured and how it uses effective event marketing. Tim Collett, head of live of WRG Live will outline the multiple career opportunities available to event professionals and Alison Church, marketing director at Easyfairs, will chair a panel on the skills needed to be successful in the events industry.

Event Careers Live is a one-day event which aims to provide those seeking employment in the events industry with new opportunities and education.

According to the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP), the events industry is worth £43bn to the UK economy and provides jobs to an estimated 570,000 people. An estimated 1.3m business events and 7,000 major outdoor events are held each year across the UK. A range of careers exist across design, planning, selling, marketing and event delivery.

Content at Event Careers Live can will include panel debates addressing topics such as breaking into the events industry and what it takes to organise and deliver large events. There will be campfire sessions hosted by industry experts, providing an informal opportunity to network with prospective employers.

Interactive career workshops hosted by employers will also take place during the course of the day. 

Fifty carefully selected companies will be available for short introductory meetings, offering the chance for delegates to learn more about how events organisations operate.
