Speaker's Corner hosts Knowledge Guild at The Brewery
Knowledge Guild is a conference series which takes place four times every year. February’s event was themed ‘embracing uncertainty to maximise your potential’.
CN was in attendance to hear talks delivered by women’s rugby leader Maggie Alphonsi, yacht racer Brendan Hall and survivalist Ed Stafford. Sally Bundock, host of the BBC’s Business Live, provided excellent hosting throughout the evening.
Alphonsi became the BBC’s first female pundit for any sport covering the rugby World Cup, following a successful career that saw her win the women’s rugby World Cup.
Hall spoke about dealing with ‘victim mentality’, and learning how to deal with difficult situations in a positive way. He led a team on a 35,000-mile circumnavigation of the globe, and had to contest with difficult weather conditions throughout.
Stafford was the first person to walk the entirety of the Amazon River, and has had several of his own survival shows on the Discovery Channel.
Nick Gold, Managing Director at Speakers Corner, commented: “Last night’s Knowledge Guild was truly rousing and another triumph for Speakers Corner, The Brewery and our four wonderful speakers.
“Pushing yourself out of that ever-present comfort zone can lead to unimaginable success, as portrayed by our inspiring speakers.
“Before leaving the event, so many attendees commented that they were ready to leap into the next challenge that presented itself, whether professional or personal. This is testament to the value a motivational speaker can bring to a business event”.
