St George’s Park hosts Toyota cup of nations

St. George’s Park, home to England’s 28 national teams, hosted a football tournament between European colleagues from Toyota Material Handling (TMH).

The TMH tournament is hosted in a different country each year with the intention of showcasing best practice and enhancing perceptions of the host country.

The internal TMH Football European Cup brought together more than 120 staff from 11 countries and 50 supporters of the UK team.

Players had access to the football centre and the outdoor leadership centre, where delegates were given the opportunity to enhance leadership skills and performance through outdoor experiential learning.

The international teams were made up of employees from the UK, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Switzerland.

After the tournament, players stayed at the venue’s on-site Hilton Hotel.

Martin Donohoe, marketing manager at TMH UK, said: “This is the first time we have used St. George’s Park, but it was the obvious choice for a football tournament, and we were very impressed with both the facilities and the organisation.

“Coordinating colleagues from so many different countries is never easy but we were looked after by the on-site team from the moment we arrived, and the event could not have gone any better.”

Holly Murdoch, general manager at St. George’s Park, said: “We were delighted to welcome European colleagues from another huge global brand and it was good to see that the weather held for the tournament too.

“While it was quite fitting that they made use of our football centre, it was also great to be able to showcase some of the other facilities at St. George’s Park, like the outdoor leadership centre and on-site Hilton Hotel.”

Since opening in 2012, St. George’s Park has hosted more than 6,000 conferences and events. It has hosted brands such as Nike, Google and Molson Coors.
