Venues of Excellence member Millennium Point hosts replica planet Earth installation

Birmingham venue Millennium Point, a member of Venues of Excellence, is hosting the Luke Jerram’s Gaia – a replica of planet Earth created using 120dpi detailed NASA imagery.

From 1 February until 31 March the artwork will be suspended in Millennium Point’s atrium, slowly revolving and able to be seen at drinks receptions, gala dinners or conferences.

By standing 211m away from the artwork, which measures seven metres in diameter, attendees will be able to see the Earth as it appears from the Moon.

Mandy Jennings, CEO of Venues of Excellence, said: “To host the Gaia as part of its tour of the UK is a wonderful opportunity for conference and event organisers to offer something that is truly ‘out of this world’ to their guests.”

Victoria Webb, sales manager, Millennium Point, said: “[The installation] showcases the sheer flexibility and versatility our venue can offer, alongside other benefits including the knowledge that our commercial profits fund initiatives that support the growth of STEM education in the West Midlands.”
