Bristol-based creative agency, Studio Giggle, has appointed Rebecca Dowds as event director.

The agency is part of Distortion Creative Group and the new role strengthens its live and hybrid event delivery capability.

Dowds joins as the agency expands beyond content creation and virtual production, adding more operational control over event planning and delivery, particularly for complex live, hybrid and digital formats.

She brings more than 10 years’ experience across government and corporate events. Most recently, she worked at Bray Leino Events, leading staffing and operations for the UK Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka.

She managed a budget of more than £1m and oversaw delivery requirements, including supplier coordination and on-site operations. The project included ESG-led practices such as inclusive staffing and sustainable sourcing.

Her previous work includes government programmes CYBERUK 2022 and 2023, alongside live-broadcast stage productions for fashion and sports brands, where delivery precision and broadcast integration were critical.

At Studio Giggle, Dowds will work directly with clients on event design and delivery. The role focuses on integrating content, live production and immersive technologies, including virtual production, XR and real-time rendering, into a single event workflow.

Dowds said: “I’m excited to join Studio Giggle at a pivotal moment in its growth. The team’s blend of content creation and event delivery, especially its focus on storytelling and immersive tech really stood out to me. Coming from a larger agency, I’m energised by the chance to take a hands-on role in a close-knit team and help shape the full event journey for their clients “

Rob King, chief executive of Distortion Creative Group, said: “Rebecca’s proven track record in managing complex, multi-million-pound events makes her the ideal leader to spearhead our events expansion. Her expertise in stakeholder engagement and operations will be instrumental as we reach new peaks with our blue-chip clients. This appointment underscores our commitment to building a team that pushes creative boundaries.”

The appointment follows a period of growth for Studio Giggle, with clients such as Sky, British Airways and Autotrader.

Distortion Creative Group appointed Rob King as CEO earlier this year. Since then, the group has expanded its XR and virtual production capability, delivering content for global events and branded activations.
