Brandfuel has appointed Jeremy Read as executive business director, with immediate effect.
Read, who was previously group business director, also joins the company board. He first joined Brandfuel in 2011 as an intern and remained with the agency for more than four years.
During that period, he learned the business before leaving to gain wider industry experience, which included roles with small technology suppliers, work at creative agencies, and a period in-house at a large technology client.
Read later undertook contract work for Brandfuel and rejoined the business permanently, as group business director in 2023, following an invitation from founder David Ball.
The appointment formalises a senior leadership role that Read has held in practice since returning to the agency. In his new position, Read takes on executive responsibility and a formal board seat, signalling a shift in governance as the agency continues to develop its leadership structure.
Commenting on the appointment, Read said: “I’m delighted to be stepping into this role, particularly at a time of enormous transformation that we are seeing in the creative industries and how agencies need to adapt. Brandfuel is in a brilliant position to bring the best of its capabilities to some of the world’s most influential brands and I’m really excited to put our plans into action with the team.”
He added: “I’m grateful for the trust and opportunity that the wider board has given me. Brandfuel has always been more than a company to me and has given me some of the best highs over the past 15 years – not least, meeting my now wife on my first day!”
Sue Sawyer, CEO of Brandfuel, explains that the promotion reflected Read’s impact since his return. She said: “It has been only a couple of years since Jeremy returned to Brandfuel, but in that time he has had a huge impact on the growth and ambition of the company.”
She added: “His promotion to the board of directors is both timely and well-deserved; we are delighted by this latest step in his career.”
The move strengthens Brandfuel’s executive team and places Read in a position to influence long-term business direction, client strategy, and agency operations from board level.
