AWS Community Summit aka “Comsum”, the independent one-day conference for the AWS community in the UK, is set to expand to Birmingham later this year, following on from the success of the Manchester event.
Launched in 2018, the annual event provides a platform for Amazon Web Services (AWS) professionals, developers and enthusiasts to share knowledge, network and learn about new technologies and practices in the world of AWS.
The Manchester event has previously been attended by blue-chip organisations from a range of sectors, including Barclays, NatWest, Lego, Booking.com, the BBC, Lloyds Bank, University of Manchester, Trustpilot, the Home Office, Shell Co-op and Datadog.
Due to take place on 4 June at Digbeth venues The Bond and Fazeley Studios, the inaugural Birmingham Comsum will feature over 25 talks and workshops on topics such as cloud migration, digital transformation, application modernisation, accelerating growth and innovation using GenAI and unlocking data to drive business value.
The event will be sponsored by tech consultancy, AND Digital, which has offices at The Foundry in Birmingham’s Brindleyplace and specialist cloud consultancy Steamhaus, which helps organisations unlock the full power of AWS to achieve the speed, stability and innovation required to compete in a digital-first world.
Richard Bovey, chief for data at AND Digital, commented: “Birmingham is fast becoming a powerhouse for tech, so it’s fitting for AND Digital to support as partner for the inaugural ComSum Birmingham 2026. This partnership underscores our strong alliance with AWS and our genuine passion for growing innovation across the digital ecosystem in the Midlands.”
He added: “As someone proudly based out of Birmingham, I look forward to welcoming people from all across the world to our thriving city for this landmark event.”
The West Midlands Growth Company [WMGC], the region’s official investment promotion agency, supported the investment by connecting the Comsum team with relevant regional stakeholders and businesses, including potential commercial partners and event venues.
Phil Horn, director at Steamhaus and organiser of AWS Comsum, said: “AWS Comsum is a unique and powerful forum, providing a space for the AWS community to share best practice and be the first to learn about new developments in the AWS landscape. It’s brilliant to have the support of AND Digital and Steamhaus as we bring this stand-out event to Birmingham for the first time and I look forward to welcoming delegates through the doors this summer.”
Paul Dickinson, director, AWS UK regional strategy, engagement & growth, said: “Over the last seven years, AWS Comsum has proven itself as the UK’s leading independent event for organisations seeking to learn how their peers are leveraging AWS’ solutions to drive transformation.”
He added: “The AWS community underpins everything we do and the launch of AWS Comsum Birmingham will ensure even more of our customers in this dynamic city and region can benefit from the opportunity to collaborate with others in their industry, form new partnerships and gain a competitive advantage through best practice insights.”
