It’s time to shake up conference formats and try new things, according to the audience of meeting planners at this year’s Conference Summit in London, 23 November.
Thirty-five per cent of people present at the event, organised by the Global Conference Network and held at St Paul’s etc.venues, said the traditional format of event is "old news". A further 41 per cent of the audience said they had organised a hybrid event and 64 per cent were planning on doing so in the next year.
George P Johnson’s Executive Director, Kevin Jackson, said: "We shouldn’t be doing the same thing all the time, but making it right and relevant for the brand and the audience.
"People ultimately still have the same goals but it’s about selecting the right medium in which to achieve them, even if it is different from what has happened before."
Other topics discussed at the event included; how to find and keep happy, motivated staff; how to grow, transform and ensure the lasting success of your events through innovation and expanding into new markets; harnessing the power of digital and live media and how to revolutionise the conference experience.
Speakers included Chris Carroll, Chairman of the Eventful Group; Informa’s Development Director, James Gareh and the Head of Events of Faversham House, Mark Baker.
