Self-service event ticketing agency, Eventbrite, has seen a 115 per cent growth in its number of tickets sold in the UK, to four million, since it launched in the UK in September 2011.
The agency said its has also seen a 107 per cent increase in the number of events it hosts for the same period. The company says it grew gross ticket sales 80 per cent during the company’s first year of local operations.
Founded in 2006, the company has recently announced its ticketing systems will be integrated with Apple’s new app Passbook on the iOS 6 operating system.
Eventbrite data shows that Londoners were by far and away the most avid event-goers in the UK, with Brighton coming in second. The top 10 cities in the UK are London, Brighton, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford, Bristol, Leeds and Sheffield.
“London has long been a top five city for Eventbrite in terms of users, and the response we’ve seen since our recent focus on the UK has been incredibly promising,” said Kevin Hartz, CEO of Eventbrite. “The vast quantity and breath of events here showcase the entrepreneurial spirit of the country, and highlight people’s ability to embrace the online world to build their offline lives.”
During the year, Eventbrite also announced issuing US$1bn (£0.62bn) in gross ticket sales since its founding, and released localised versions of the platform in 14 countries, including France, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
