The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) has won three conferences this summer, which will bring 1,750 delegates to the city.
The European Optical Society Annual Symposium 2012; The World Heavy Oil Congress 2012, and The Society of Core Analysts Symposium 2012 will make the city their home.
The Society of Core Analysts 2012 Symposium will be held from 27 to 30 August. This four-day event includes a conference as well as an exhibition, and takes place annually in different locations around the world. This year will be its 26th anniversary, and 250 delegates are expected to attend.
The World Heavy Oil Congress, having already taken place in China, Canada and Venezuela, comes to Aberdeen from 10 to 13 September. As the oil capital of Europe, the region’s diverse energy landscape (in particular the North Sea reserves) lends unique context for the technical expertise and business insight contributions to the global heavy oil community. One thousand delegates are expected to come to the city to be part of the congress.
The European Optical Society’s (EOS) Annual Meeting will be held over four days from 25 to 28 September. Launched in 2006, and since then hosted every even year by the OPTO exhibit in Paris, the EOS Annual Meeting (EOSAM) has established itself as a major European event with at least 500 attendees expected. In 2012, EOSAM moves to Aberdeen to reach out into the wider European community and broaden the appeal to those not directly connected with EOS.
Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC, commented: “It is great that these three societies chose AECC as the venue for such major events, reinforcing the emphasis that AECC and Aberdeen are a highly attractive choice in the international conference market.”
