Aintree’s bet on investment leads to jump in corporate sales

Aintree Aintree Racecourse has reported its business bookings have jumped by more than a quarter in the last six months.

Bookings for meetings, conferences and exhibitions increased by more than 27 per cent in the last six months compared to the same period last year, according to Aintree’s Conference and Events Manager Debbie Slee. “Despite the country still being in the middle of a recession we have seen incredible growth in our corporate sales, with bookings way above what they were last year.”

Slee puts the increase in bookings down to the investment in marketing activities and new facilities beginning to pay dividends. The course underwent a £35m redevelopment in 2007, including a new equestrian centre which made available a further 4,800sqm of event space.

In recent months, Aintree has also invested £450,000 in the refurbishment of Princess Royal Stand to create a new lounge and events space, including a new champagne bar.

Not only is new business being won, but Aintree is, Slee notes, “retaining our existing clients”.

“The event and conference market can often be a good indicator of economic recovery and confidence, so it’s heartening to see that corporate sales at Aintree is on the increase pointing to a growing confidence in the business sector in Liverpool,” she adds.
