The Hydro in Glasgow to open in September 2013

The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow, has announced that The Hydro, Scotland’s new home of live entertainment, will officially open for business on 2 September 2013.
Confirmation of the opening date has been a result of the progress made by The Hydro’s project team led by construction company, Lend Lease, and architects, Foster & Partners.
"The progress that has been made with The Hydro has been great," says the CEO of SECC, John Sharkey. "The entire project team including staff at the SECC should be congratulated for their efforts involved in the process of taking The Hydro on its journey to completion and ready for business."
He continues: "Last week we were placed as the 13th top ranked entertainment venue in the world by industry experts Pollstar in its ’Top 100 Worldwide Entertainment Venues 2012’. This is fantastic news for the SECC and particularly The Hydro as it recognises us as a major player in the global entertainment scene and positions the arena favourably for securing even bigger names in the future."
Discussions are underway with a number of major artists who will be part of the opening programme at the music and events arena.
