Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) reports a doubling of its Hosted Buyers for this year’s China Incentives, Business Travel and Meetings trade show (CIBTM) from the South China region.
CIBTM 2012 takes place 12-14 September at the China National Convention Centre (pictured) in Beijing.
The sign ups follow a successful roadshow through Chengdu and Shanghai tailored to communicate the importance of CIBTM in supporting both inbound and outbound business for China’s meetings industry, as well as reaching potential buyers who already work in the industry but do not realise they are part of it.
The first of the 2012 CIBTM forums was attended by 100 meeting professionals and hosted in Chengdu, considered to be one of the top three potential meetings destinations in China, according to the latest industry report by the China National Tourism Adminstration (CNTA).
RTE said the meetings were designed to illustrate how CIBTM could help Chinese business tourism professionals develop their business objectives and what the event could do for their own career in the sector.
Phoebe Wu, Chengdu World Travel, said: “Chengdu has been active in promoting MICE business although it’s still an emerging MICE city in China. We are looking for someone to lead us to enter into the market. After this forum we feel RTE is the right organisation to do that for us. All of the speakers they invited impressed us and brought us valuable guidelines and industry knowledge.”
RTE says this year’s CIBTM will deliver education for all levels powered by leading industry associations such as ACTE, MPI, ICCA, SITE and PCMA. Organisers also predict the show will attract this year 200 exhibitors from the region and overseas.
