Meetings and event industry lobbying group, the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP), will put the industry’s case for support in front of MPs at the House of Commons on 5 September.
The event is sponsored by Nick de Bois MP (pictured), the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, and adds political momentum to the Britain for Events campaign
The event is a select affair open only to members of the BVEP and partners and supporters of the Britain for Events campaign.
The BVEP is hopeful that Government ministers, members of both Houses of Parliament, as well as senior representatives and policy leaders from DCMS, UKTI, UK Sport and BIS, will attend.
“We’re looking to maintain our presence in front of this important audience and present a chance for leaders within the events industry to influence senior ministers, politicians and business representatives,” says BVEP Chair Michael Hirst. Hirst was recently elected Chairman of the Touirism Alliance.
Following on from a summer of major events that includes the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the organiser believes it presents a massive opportunity to showcase the creativity and professionalism of the UK events industry.
“We unveiled our message to policy makers and the wider business industry at the Britain for Events launch last week and this is just one of the activities we have planned to carry the message to each of our target audiences,” Hirst adds.
The Britain for Events campaign has published a 20-12 fact sheet for members of the events industry to distribute among buyers of meetings and events. The literature is hosted on the campaign website and outlines 20 reasons why business should support the industry, and identifies 12 opportunities for growth for the industry.
