Peterborough Arena is gearing up to stage a world record attempt, when the East of England Showground venue hosts the Mobility Roadshow, 21-23 June.
Motorsport marshal Steve Tarrant (pictured with Lewis Hamilton), who survived a near-fatal crash at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2000, will be attempting to smash the current Guinness World Record? for ‘the greatest distance covered in 24 hours by a mobility scooter’.
He aims to clock up 750 laps of the Showground’s Speedway Ring to beat the record of 154 miles achieved by Jackie Weeden in May 2011.
Jacqui Jones, executive director of Mobility Choice - the charity behind the event - said: “Steve is such an inspiration, especially to anyone newly disabled and we shall all be cheering him on.”
Organisers of the Mobility Roadshow tell CN they expect to attract around 10,000 visitors and 170 exhibitors.
The show also has an Interactive Sports Zone and there will be Meet the Experts sessions covering topics such as Blue Badge parking, air passengers’ rights and using a scooter on public roads and transport
