Jockey Club Venues live music events hit the right notes

Music nights at Sandown Park Jockey Club Venues has seen a rise in demand for its live music events, with these events becoming an important part of the organisation’s business mix.

The JCV events involve horse racing followed by an artist performing. With 31 live music events held in 2011,  the  racecourses are squaring up to more traditional music arenas.

Live events in 2011 contributed to 16 per cent of The Jockey Club’s annual 1.9m footfall. In turn, the group enjoyed its third most profitable year for music related events.

The summer of 2012 programme includes acts such as Tom Jones, Madness, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Will Young, Olly Murs, Van Morrison and McFly. Tickets for Jessie J at Newmarket Racecourse in Suffolk, 17 July, sold out in just three weeks.

"The figures for our live music evenings are further evidence of our growing status in the live events industry, and we are excited about our schedule of live music events running alongside Britain’s summer of sporting events," says Group Director of Operations, John Baker.

The 14 racecourses under the Jockey Club Venues moniker, which includes Cheltenham, Market Rasen, Carlisle, Exeter and the three south-eastern racecourses (Epsom Downs, Kempton Park and Sandown Park racecourses), are offering 23 live music events between 22 June and 7 September 2012.
