Over £1.65bn worth of travel and tourism deals will come out of World Travel Market 2011, claims organiser Reed Travel Exhibitions.
The figure represents a 16 per cent uplift on the results for WTM 2010.
Independent research of World Travel Market’s exhibitors forecast WTM 2011 would generate £1.65bn of deals, either through contracts signed at the event, or from negotiations with Meridian Club members leading up to WTM 2012.
WTM 2010 generated £1.42bn in business deals, either on the exhibition floor or in the 12 months that followed, which was, in turn, a 25 per cent increase on WTM 2009.
WTM 2011 featured an overhauled one-hour Speed Networking session before the show opened, as opposed to various 45-minute slots spread around the show floor.
A WTM Networking Breakfast provided exhibitors and Meridian Club members with an extra event opportunity to meet up and discuss business deals.
Reed Travel Exhibitions WTM Director Simon Press said: “World Travel Market 2011 has seen, and will lead to, a phenomenal amount of travel and tourism industry business being agreed. The amount of business conducted and the findings from the exhibitor research shows WTM is delivering on its commitment to facilitate business in the travel and tourism industry.”
