Ricoh Arena has signed Opex Venue Services (OVS) as preferred supplier for mains and house services under a new five-year deal.
The supplier will provide shell schemes, electrics, furniture, flooring, logistics, data management and registration facilities as part of the contract. A key element of the deal will be to freeze electric rates until August 2011.
Ricoh Arena executive director, Angus Houston, said it is essential the venue maintains a strong supplier arrangement to meet its expansion plans. He claims Ricoh’s conference and events business was up 25 per cent this year compared to 2009, and attributed the rise to creating 2,000sqm of additional exhibition hall space in July.
OVS parent Opex Group has preferred supplier arrangements with Earls Court and Olympia, as well as the Business Design Centre in London. Its Excel Invision subsidiary also partners with Excel London.
“Fostering partnerships with large and small venues is one of our key development strategies,” said Opex Group financial and commercial director, Justin Phillips.
