The media centre that will house thousands of journalists from around the world during the 2012 Olympic Games in London has been revealed.
London mayor Boris Johnson today announced the One Great George Street conference centre, off Parliament Square, will contain the London Media Centre, welcoming accredited and non-accredited journalists.
The Centre will have workspace for more than 250 journalists, with press conference facilities to sit 200 and be available at any time of the day
“In the summer of 2012, the focus of the world will be on London,” says chairman of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, Sebastian Coe. “As well as thousands of athletes, thousands more media will be in London and will be telling our story globally. Ensuring they are well looked after and have all the information they need about the Games, about London and about the UK as a whole will be vital to how they work and how London and the Games is reported.”
For each Olympic Games, the National Olympic Committee collectively accredits around 25,000 journalists and other representatives of international media to cover the Games. However, thousands of non-accredited journalists will also flood into the capital.
