UBM acquires Route Development Group

United Business Media (UBM) is acquiring The Route Development Group (RDG) for up to £9.3m (US$14.5) from its private shareholders on behalf of UBM Aviation.
Based in Manchester, RDG produces a number of aviation route development networking events. Its flagship event is Routes - The World Route Development Forum. The networking event brings together representatives of airports, airlines, suppliers and industry observers to develop new air routes and manage existing networks.
Last year’s event in Beijing attracted almost 3,000 participants. The 16th edition of the event will take place in Vancouver, Canada from 19 to 20 September 2010. RDG also produces smaller regional events in the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and Russia.
Included in the deal is a supporting aviation route consultancy business.
CEO of UBM Aviation, Peter von Moltke, says: “We are delighted to have acquired this fantastic business, which includes a genuinely unique mix of assets which will enhance how we serve the airline and airport markets.”
