Venuemasters, the consortium representing 80 UK academic venues, will take its 2011 Academic Venue Show back to the Emirates Stadium in London for its 2011 edition.
The event will take place on 11 May and organisers say they are keen to build on the success of the 2010 event which attracted 450 visitors, 14 per cent up on the previous year.
Forty academic venues exhibited at this year’s show, with Ruby Wax delivering the keynote.
Venuemasters is confident that many of its 11 new members will exhibit next May.
Chief executive, Terry Billingham, says: “The 2010 show was a great success and this achievement was at a time when similar events were being postponed or cancelled due to an uncertain economic climate. It highlights the growing appeal of academic venues for meetings and events, and the value for money that they offer. We will be looking to build on this success in 2011 by introducing new features to keep the show fresh and exciting, including another high profile keynote speaker.”
