Reed Travel Exhibitions (RTE) has appointed Sally de Swart as the acting event director of its Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME), while the meetings industry show’s event director, Rosemarie Sama, is on maternity leave.

De Swart, who spent five years as an event organiser in Australia and a speaker bureau in Sydney, has previously worked for Reed Exhibitions in the UK as ITEC exhibition director from 2002 to 2008 before moving to Clarion Events as defence exhibition DSEi exhibition director for the past two years.

Group exhibition director of RTE, Craig Moyes, says that De Swart has been appointed for her experience and in-depth knowledge of the business events industry. “For the last eight years, Sally has played a significant role at Reed Exhibitions and Clarion Events organising exhibitions and conferences for the defence industry.”

De Swart will be moving to Melbourne, Australia to commence her new role. “I’m looking forward to working on AIME. It provides strong opportunities for exhibitors to source new business with face-to-face time, which is such a limited commodity these days,” says De Swart.

Held annually at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the AIME 2011 will take place from 15 to 16 February.
