Ghost hunters from Living TV’s Most Haunted programme were called in to investigate supernatural occurrences at conference and event venue Gregynog Hall, Powys, last month.
Gregynog’ director, Karen Armstrong, called in the Most Haunted team after staff and members of the Mid-Wales Paranormal society reported significant ghostly activity. The building is believed to be haunted by a number of ghosts, including a man called William who wears a long black coat.
Armstrong says William wanders the corridors, and reportedly used to knock the shoulder of a previous male director of the hall as he left his office.
"I also caught my dad holding a door open for a man in a black coat that clearly wasn’t there," adds Armstrong. "He didn’t believe in ghosts until that day. I always say goodnight to William when I’m the last to leave the building at night - just in case!"
Other spectres supposedly seen include a crying boy in one of the bedrooms, a servant girl who wears an old Gregynog uniform and a Second World War nurse who leapt to her death from a high window.
"Many of our staff have worked here for a long time and they keep telling the same corroborated stories," says Armstrong. "Whenever I remind them that ghosts don’t exist, they knowingly smile at me!"
Most Haunted aired its film from Gregynog on 30 June, when presenter Yvette Fielding had to ‘rescue’ a colleague who’d been locked in a safe by a phantom.
