Eventia Industry association Eventia has relocated its executive office within central Birmingham, completing the reorganisation that followed its merger at the beginning of the year with the British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD).

Eventia CEO Izania Downie, says: “We are very pleased to have completed our move to new offices just a short distance from our previous offices in Charles House. Five full-time and one part-time staff, as well as a student on a six-month placement will now work out of the office on Great Charles Street.

Eventia has launched the Green Globe Index (GGI) to its members, with a reduced rate. The index markets itself as a global solution to sustainability indexing and disclosure in the travel and tourism industry and is based upon company submissions, using a questionnaire and data entry process to deliver a ranking and peer-group comparison by business type, both nationally and globally.

The index is designed to help companies achieve increased sustainability while cutting costs from waste and to help them demonstrate tangible activity to clients and employees.

Users who achieve a minimum level of attainment are placed on a public index for buyers to identify sustainable suppliers.

Participants can update their data throughout the year and improve their rating.

Eventia board member for CSR and marketing director, Grass Roots, Aileen Reuter, says: “This is a great opportunity for Eventia members to benchmark their CSR activity against peers and identify areas for future improvement. A number of members from the CSR working party acted as a focus group for the index and I am delighted Eventia is the first events association to partner with it.”
