Visit Manchester says £500,000 will be brought to the local economy with the arrival of the British Lymphology Society (BLS) conference.
The three day conference, to take place at the Manchester Town Hall between 3 and 5 October 2010, will attract over 300 delegates to the city.
“The city’s international transport links were attractive to us, as we want to try and attract more influential keynote speakers,” says spokesperson for the BLS, David Combie. “We’ve already confirmed Dr Andrea Cheville MD from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota as one speaker for 2010.”
“We’ve had success hosting similar conferences here in the past and are confident BLS will be impressed with everything Manchester can offer,” says MD of Visit Manchester, Paul Simpson.
The BLS exists to promote awareness of lymphoedema (swelling of the body). Its members consist of health care professionals that look to promote awareness and solutions for the currently untreatable problem.
