A new venue marketing joint venture, Unique Venues Birmingham (UVB), has been launched in the second city. It is initiated by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the Library of Birmingham and designed to unite the conferencing and hospitality opportunities offered within the shared building on Centenary Square in the heart of Birmingham.
A launch event, 5 October, saw 250 guests from the conferencing and events industry, join with the local corporate community to experience escorted tours of the venues, live music, food and some surprise performances in the Library of Birmingham’s Book Rotunda.
Guests also got to meet the event management team led by commercial director, Suzanna Reid, who said there had been “a fantastic response” from the launch. “I am personally very excited about the impact that UVB will have on events within the city,” Reid added.
The creation of UVB was led by Stuart Rogers, executive director, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and Jacqui Kennedy, corporate director for place, Birmingham City Council, who have steered the two organisations towards working closely together to deliver the initiative.
The UVB portfolio includes three theatrical auditoria, presenting many dramatic and creative possibilities, a spectacular book rotunda, and a beautiful roof terrace with panoramic views across the city plus the historic Shakespeare Memorial Room. A range of meetings rooms is on offer across the shared building.
