Sandown Park Racecourse embraces Amma UK Tour

The Jockey Club’s Sandown Park will host the London leg of world spiritual and humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi’s (Amma) UK tour on the weekend of 17-18 November 2017.

The event will take place in Sandown Park’s largest exhibition space, the 2,740sqm Surrey Hall, and is expected to attract more than 8,000 visitors.

The two-day programme includes meditation, spiritual talks, a ceremony for world peace and singing with Amma. Visitors will also have the chance to meet with 64-year-old Amma one-on-one and receive her famous embrace, known as her darshan. Since beginning her work 30 years ago, Amma has given more than 37m embraces worldwide.

A spokesperson for the Amma Tour said: “The staff at Sandown Park have been absolutely wonderful in the planning of this tour. They are incredibly helpful and even took us on private tours of the venue at the weekend to fit with our schedule. The flexibility on offer at the venue is one of the core reasons for choosing Sandown Park.”

Dan Smyth, regional business development executive – Jockey Club Venues London: “We’re very happy to welcome Amma’s UK tour to Sandown Park. We’re really looking forward to working with Amma’s UK tour team on making a success of the event that really is one of a kind. We want to make Sandown Park a home for the UK tour for years to come.”
