Leeds Beckett student bright Spark recognised by Ashfield

SPARK THINKING, an Ashfield Meetings & Events brand, produced the recent Student of the Year award at the UK Centre for Events Management at Leeds Beckett University, where Alex Stannard was the student winning the top prize following her recent graduation. She collected a first-class BA (Hons) Events Management degree at a ceremony at the university’s Headingley Campus. It is the third year SPARK THINKING has produced the event.

Commenting on her award, Stannard said: “I have loved my time here. I never imagined to graduate with a first, let alone receive the Student of the Year award. I am so grateful for the continuous support from the team at Leeds Beckett. I would also like to extend my appreciation to SPARK THINKING who sponsored this award.”

Glenn Bowdin (head, UK Centre For Events Management, Leeds Beckett University) added: “Alex is a worthy winner. She has not only studied hard to achieve top grades in her academic work, she has worked in the events industry throughout her course, developing her professional experience and networks.

“Alex undertook her placement year with a range of organisations, which provided her with opportunities to experience different sectors, develop a wide skill base and provide a diverse knowledge platform to allow her to shape her future career.”

Bowdin said it was also rewarding that Heather Sharp and Graham Lord, both previous graduates of Leeds Beckett University, not only presented the award but also led the production project team that delivered the 2017 graduation ceremonies.
