Conference News is launching its first awards ceremony later this year with the inaugural Academic Venue Awards, which is set to take place 22 November at the Great Hall, Queen Mary University of London. The Great Hall is in the historic People’s Palace and a Grade II listed building which has seen a major refurbishment of its 1930s art deco theatre.

Project director Kirk Thomas says: “The level of investment from academic institutions into their events offerings, including facilities, technology and event management, has driven competition and resulted in academic venues offering some of the top event spaces in the country.

“The Conference News team has always supported these institutions and is excited to further boost the sector by highlighting and rewarding their achievements and successes.”
