The Meetings Industry Association (mia) has appointed Loughborough University’s Kay England as its new vice-chair.
England is currently director of campus services at Loughborough University and chief executive of Imago, the University’s hotel, conference and event management company.
She has also been on the mia council for five years and played an instrumental role in Imago achieving AIM Gold status.
“I love working in both Higher Education and the hospitality industry, and I am passionate about the people within our industry,” England says. “I am excited to be appointed vice-chair, and hope my extensive experience in leadership, change management and creating a quality-driven culture will help to deliver the vision of the association and be of great benefit to our members.”
England is also a board director for Venues of Excellence and a previous director of the International Association of Conference Centres (IACC).
Mark Chambers, chairman of the mia, adds: “Kay has fantastic experience in the meetings industry, having established and positioned Imago as one of the leading hospitality brands in the academic sector. Kay will add real strategic value to the mia executive board over the coming year, and I am delighted to welcome her to the team.”
