Experiential agency WRG sold to Huntsworth in £24.7m deal

Manchester-based WRG agency has been sold to healthcare communications and PR group Huntsworth plc in a £24.7m deal.

The deal is part of the sale of umbrella group The Creative Engagement Group Ltd, which also includes The Moment and just Communicate, by private equity investor LDC.

WRG is the biggest of the three experimential companies in the group, with turnover of £47.5m, according to its latest accounts filed 31 October 2015.

The agency has 181 employees.

TCEG’s management team is led by CEO Russ Lidstone (pictured) and COO David Sharrock. Both will remain with the business.

Huntsworth is based in London, but has offices in 29 countries.

CEO Paul Taaffe said “TCEG is well positioned for future growth.”

Lidstone described the deal was “a truly exciting development”.

“The opportunity to offer clients an even more integrated view of how to engage audiences is compelling. Our teams at WRG, The Moment and Just Communicate are genuinely thrilled to be joining the Huntsworth Group.”

Clearwater international advised TCEG on its sale to Huntsworth.
