Up on The Roof: new floating East London venue space

Good Hotel London has opened a rooftop waterside terrace for events, The Roof.

The event space sits atop a floating transportable platform which crossed the North Sea in a 330-mile journey last September from Amsterdam. The floating hotel opened on the River Thames last November.

The Roof now offers panoramic river views of Canary Wharf, the O2 Arena, Royal Victoria Dock and the Emirate’s Cable Car, as well as being a two-minute walk from Royal Victoria DLR Station.

Marten Dresen, founder of the Good Hotel London, commented on the opening of The Roof said his team had been working hard on this project since September 2016, when the hotel travelled by sea from its original location in Amsterdam. “Being able to announce the launch of The Roof is a proud moment for us,” he said.

The Roof opens in partnership with wine house Cordoniu, which supplies its house Cava.

The menu has been designed to suit al fresco eating and the summer season with a tapas style.

The Roof offers 100 covers and it is available for private events throughout the year, weather permitting.

The Good Hotel London will be moored at Royal Victoria Dock for five years and can offer 148 rooms, the Living Room, event rooms, a spacious lobby area and the rooftop terrace.
