Scotland House to be rallying hub for MICE sales drive in the South East

Scottish small businesses are to be encouraged to take membership at Scotland House, a new London hub designed to promote Scottish enterprise in the South East.

The building at 58 Victoria Embankment will provide a central London base for some members of the VisitScotland Business Events team as well as the wider ‘Team Scotland’, including VisitScotland, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Development International.

The opening of Scotland House now as part of the Scottish government’s new collaborative approach to promoting the country. Similar enterprises have already opened or will open imminently in Dublin, Brussels and Berlin.

Scotland House aims to provide a platform to celebrate and showcase Scotland’s ambitious companies, world-class sectors and research and innovation capabilities.

It will also offer a membership model for Scottish-based businesses so they can utilise the shared working space on offer at Scotland House. Aimed primarily at the small business sector, Scotland House will be available to its members so they can host meetings and events in a contemporary setting.

During 2016/17, 54% of UK enquiries to the VisitScotland Business Events team came from London & Southern England.

Neil Brownlee, head of business events at VisitScotland said: “London and the South East are very important geographical markets for Scotland’s MICE industry. We have been active and highly visible in London for many years. Now Scotland House will give us a prominent and exciting new home, right alongside our key partners who share our ambition to make Scotland the destination of choice for business.”
