Two appointments at Jockey Club

Jockey Club Venues, London has made two new appointments: Stuart Dorn has been appointed as head of operations – London Jockey Club Racecourses; Lyle Smith has been appointed as business development executive – conference & events at Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Dorn joins the group from his role as executive director at Royal Windsor Racecourse where he worked for more than three years. Prior to that Dorn was executive director at Brighton Racecourse. Responsibilities at these tracks included business management ranging from sales to operations, the racing to marketing, as well as wider project involvement including the planning application for a hotel development at Royal Windsor.

Dorn will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operation of the business at the three London racecourses is as effective as possible. Dorn will be providing customer excellence, utilising resource and support from the wider group, as well as driving the operational business strategically to ensure it is a market leader in both delivery and development of the iconic venues.

Speaking of his appointment, Dorn commented; “I am delighted to join London Jockey Club Racecourses. The venues play such an important part in British horseracing history. I’m looking forward to using my expertise within this role.”

Phil White, regional director of London Jockey Club Racecourses, added; “Stuart has some great experience, which I am sure will help us to expand and develop our London regions operations team. We’re very happy to have Stuart as part of the team”.

Lyle Smith joins Epsom Downs Racecourse from his role as account manager at Global Radio where he worked on commercial advertising for more than two years. Responsibilities included generating advertising sales to maximise commercial return for the station.

Smith said “I am thrilled to be part of the events team at Epsom Downs Racecourse. I’m looking forward to the challenge and applying fresh ideas and energy to the role”.

Smith will be working alongside the conference and events team at Epsom Downs Racecourse focussing on enhancing business opportunities.

His appointment has completed the conference and events team which is now in a strong position for new business.”
