The recently rebranded East of England Arena and Events Centre made a strong start to its spring season, with a sell-out show headlined by Professor Brian Cox.
The science super star kicked off his May UK tour at the Peterborough venue, which attracted a capacity 3,000 crowd.
Cox’s UK tour carries on around the country, culminating in a Wembley show before he embarks on a European leg. The Peterborough venue was also used as a rehearsal platform for the tour.
East of England Arena and Events Centre general manager Jason Lunn said: “This was a huge coup for us – and we are delighted to report a capacity audience. Professor Brian Cox is a huge draw and we were thrilled he and his team selected Peterborough to kick off the UK tour.
“We hope that the newly-named East of England Arena and Events Centre will continue to grow as a centre of excellence for these kinds of shows. We are currently increasing our comedy offering – having just announced Bill Bailey and Jason Manford, and we see John Bishop and Jasper Carrott here later in the year.”
Billy Connolly and Jack Whitehall have also performed at the venue in recent months.
