Full service agency drp has supported a team of four Year 9 boys, self-named ‘EDGE’ and aged 13-14 years old from King’s School Worcester, with their entry to Land Rover’s 4×4 in Schools Technology Challenge. EDGE, consisting of Ed Cosson, Toby Weymouth, Ed Robins & Alfie Parry, were awarded First Place ‘Development’ category in the UK National Finals on 28 March, as well as the award for Best Engineered Vehicle in their category.
The aim of the challenge was to design and build a radio-controlled four-wheel drive (4×4) vehicle to set specifications and succeed in a testing off-road course. drp assisted the young team in the making of a remote-control car to compete against other schools regionally and nationally. drp helped in the design and branding of the miniature vehicle and provided them with marketing material such as T-shirts and a display stand to take with them to the Middle of England region heat and, later, the UK National Final at Silverstone. drpvideo also provided Studio 1 at drp’s Kidderminster head office to enable the team produce a video of the car in action to complement their entry, which is viewable at www.EDGE4x4.co.uk.
Dale Parmenter, CEO at drp, said: “It was great to support a local school and see young people interested in engineering, design, and innovation. The team faced the challenge with enthusiasm and energy, which was contagious and I am very pleased that they ended up winning the competition in their category.”
Toby Weymouth, marketing manager for EDGE, said: “I’d like to say a massive thanks to drp. We were really impressed with the exhibition display stand that the drpteam created, it all worked amazingly and everything went as planned. Thanks to all the help from drp, we had huge success in the competition in the ‘Development Category’ or beginners’ class and we look forward to competing in the ‘Professional Category’ next year. You’ll be able to follow our progress at www.Edge4x4.co.uk.”
