Full service agency drp worked with the British Army in Education to produce their interactive, engaging and vast exhibition stand at the national Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair, 15-18 March 2017, at the NEC Birmingham.
Divisions drpexhibition, drpdigital, GROSVENORFILM, print, design, and technical worked together collaboratively to create and execute a bespoke, interactive, engaging and tech-filled dual-level stand. The aim of the stand for the British Army was to emphasise STEM subjects, skills, and jobs within the industry.
Within the expo area, interactivity included inspirational films activated by touch screens, a batak game, and Augmented Reality (AR) markers across the stand. The AR markers were the most interactive element. Activated via an app on an iPad they brought vehicles, such as the Apache Helicopter, Foxhound and Challenger II Tank, to life in 3D/4D form.

The various interactive elements of this expo, such as the AR, ensured high levels of engagement from the visitors and having worked with them for two years running the drpteam has a strong understanding of their needs.”
‘The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair’ is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people (primarily aged 7-19) in the UK. It is a collaboration of theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits, and careers information from STEM professionals, attended by over 70,000 people.
Matthew Freemantle, Army in Education delivery manager, from Capita, commented, “This is the second consecutive year we have worked with drp at the Big Bang Fair. We significantly built on the successes of 2016; the addition of AR and a touch screen monitor allowed us to truly bring some of our content to life and show much more material than we would previously have been able to.”
