The International Centre, Telford, has announced that it has won the contract to host the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) Annual Conference for the first time.
The headteachers will come together 28–30 April at TIC, and 450 attendees are expected.
The three-day conference will include the association’s AGM, and involve debate and policy-making with addresses from the general secretary, incoming national president and guest speakers. The union represents over 28,500 members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Association deputy general secretary Nick Brook, comments: “We are thrilled to be bringing the 2017 NAHT Annual Conference to the International Centre, Telford, this year. The venue offers us the space and flexibility we need in order to run such a large and significant event for the association. We will be using the conference to debate the big issues facing schools in 2017: a crisis in school funding, problems with recruitment and retention, the chaotic and confusing primary assessment system, and the mental health and wellbeing of pupils and teachers. We look forward to taking advantage of the excellent facilities and location.”
Alison Griffin, sales and marketing director at The International Centre, Telford, adds: “As the home for large events, we are delighted to welcome the NAHT to The International Centre, Telford, for the first time. We are looking forward to showcasing all the fantastic facilities, staff expertise and exceptional service that we offer here and watching the NAHT Annual Conference come to life.”
The conference was previously held at the ICC Birmingham.
