The Science Museum Group has announced that Ben Lheureux has been promoted to the role of head of events and catering across the group’s five sites (Science Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, National Railway Museum in York, National Media Museum in Bradford and National Railway Museum in Shildon). Additionally, Kylie Dey has been promoted from events operations executive to event operations manager at the Science Museum.
Lheureux has worked in the events and catering industry since 2002 and joined the Science Museum in 2011 as event operations manager before taking on the role of group event operations manager in 2015. In his new role, he is responsible for putting the strategy in place for the corporate events teams and public catering offer across all five museums; contractual relationships and tenders; refurbishment and development projects; as well as representing the enterprises in various senior team meetings.
Lheureux said: “I am hugely privileged to be working for such an ambitious and forward thinking group of world-leading museums and with brilliant and passionate teams. We have some incredibly exciting developments coming up at each of the five museum sites this year, both in terms of the event spaces we have on offer and the public catering areas.”
As event operations manager at the Science Museum, Dey will be responsible for managing, motivating and developing the team to deliver outstanding events; develop and maintain effective contractor relationships; and maximise the profitability of events and corporate hire. Dey has worked at the Science Museum since 2015, with previous experience at LOCOG and English Heritage.
Michelle Lockhart, commercial director at Science Museum Group, said: “We are delighted to announce both Ben and Kylie’s promotions. Ben has played an integral part in growing the corporate events side of the business, and working with his team to put on some truly spectacular events. The group recognised Ben’s significant contribution to this side of the business, and are looking forward to working with him to develop this even further, alongside the public catering offer.
“Kylie has shown considerable dedication and commitment during her time at the Science Museum and has demonstrated all of the key attributes needed for the Event Operations Manager role. We look forward to her continued success in delivering outstanding events alongside her team.”
